WARD HALLOWEEN PARTY

As usual we had a great time at our Ward Halloween Party. Here are some of our pictures from the night...
Aarrgh - our pirate buddies Mallory and Lauren looked so cute at the party

Anakin (Jaxson) makes one cool Jedi

Wolverine (Jacob) stayed in character from the minute he walked in the room

Logan and his fellow gangster Christopher looked sharp in their matching suits

Logan was allowed one round of Trunk-or-Treating and then handed out candy with mom.

We thought we were so festive when we put a spider web in the back of our van for Trunk-or-Treating,

but others went all out on the car decorating. One family of mad scientists decorated the back of their car like a science laboratory - brain included. The bishop had a huge blow up spider on the top of his car and another one inside his car. The entire car was wrapped in spider webs.

Young Women's
Halloween Party 2009
Kaitlyn made a cute cowgirl once again and I went as a baby. Kaitlyn and Logan were both very
surprised to see me dress up for the party. Logan cracked himself up when he saw me after the party - he said, "so did you have fun at the party you big baby?" He thought he was so funny.

At the party we served spaghetti (brains), salad and garlic bread. We decorated cupcakes for dessert. Kaitlyn and I made chocolate covered pretzels to give to the girls. They were in the shape of ghosts and haunted mansions.

The apple juice was spiked with a little dry ice - very cool.

Halloween Party

Kaitlyn's friend, Paige, arrived at the door
one day with a package.
Inside the package were these three fingers.

Kaitlyn was a little grossed out at first,
but then discovered they were tasty little fingers that
were reminding her to join Paige at her house for
a Halloween party.
The Hillbilly and The Hobo
(aka Kaitlyn and Madisen)
looked so cute as they headed off to the party.
They had lots of fun creating their mummy pumpkins.

This is the group from the party.
They all had a great time.

For more info. about the party check out the Diaz's blog.

Painting Our Pumpkins

One of our Halloween traditions is painting a pumpkin.
Kaitlyn usually paints one that goes along with her costume.
As you can see this year she is a cowgirl -- yeehaw!

Logan made his dad proud
and painted a helicopter on his pumpkin.

Thanks Lindsey!
Kaitlyn and Logan's cute cousin Lindsey sent this great picture
of the kids. She drew Kaitlyn and Logan flying balloons.
Kaitlyn is the one with the long orange hair
and Logan has the red(?) spikey hair.
We love it Lindsey!

Young Women In Excellence

Last week at Young Women's we celebrated the hard work the girls put into Personal Progress. Kaitlyn displayed her scrapbook and all the hats that she has been knitting with her buddy Madisen. They decided to do one of their 10 hour projects together. They knit hats that they are going to give to a local hospital for little babies. They have done a great job!
The theme for the evening was Young Women in Ex-sole-ence. It was all centered around shoes and the girls put on a fashion show that turned out very cute. (Unfortunately the pictures didn't turn out very well).

We finished the evening performing a song. This is really not a good picture, but it's the only one with the two of us together. Preparing for the night was a lot of hard work, but it was worth it for Kaitlyn!

Los Vaqueros Reservoir

I went on a fieldtrip with Logan to Los Vaqueros Reservoir in Brentwood. We were able to look in a pond for endangered Red-Legged Frogs and Tiger Salamanders that are native to the area.

Logan had fun posing for pictures with friends.
We learned about the Indians. Logan chopped up acorns just like the Indians used to, but his favorite part was playing a hunting game the Indians used to play. He knows he would have been able to provide food for his tribe if he was an Indian.

We were also able to see some cool animals. We both liked this little grey owl - he was blind in one eye, but still very cool looking.

Believe it or not...

that is a cast on Logan's arm. I recently posted an entry about our new trampoline. I stupidly wrote that we had no injuries yet - the next day, yes I said it, the very next day I had to eat my words as I was driving Logan to the emergency room.
Here's what happened...we happily put up our new trampoline on a Saturday, I posted it on our blog on Sunday, when Mike got home from work on Monday we decided to go play on the trampoline. I was jumping with Mike and Logan, when one of them suggested we play "crack the egg". Logan and I were the eggs, Mike jumped to crack one of the eggs and lets just say it was a success! Logan and I went flying in the air and I landed on Logan - he started crying right away and it wasn't a good cry. I tried my best to calm him down and to get his mind off of it hoping it would all go away, but no such luck.
The x-rays showed it was broken.
Fortunately he only has to have the cast on for 3 weeks so he won't completely miss the rest of soccer season.

Logan did not like the "For Sale" sign in front of the trampoline idea, he tore it up as soon as the photo shoot was over. We are keeping the trampoline, but you might ask, Karol, have you gotten back on the trampoline yet? My answer - heck no!
