Back To School...

I still can't believe it, but Kaitlyn and Logan
are already back in school.
Logan is in 4th grade now.
He is very sad that he has to wear uniforms this year
and he was hoping for a different teacher,
but we'll cross our fingers that it turns out to be a good year anyway.

Kaitlyn is now in 8th grade.
How and why did that happen?
I still don't think I have recovered from her
first day of kindergarten and
can't believe she will be in high school next year.

After a successful first day we celebrated with
our chalkboard brownies!

The Wrights Cabin

Kaitlyn and Logan were able to go on a trip with their buddies to
their grandparents cabin thanks to Julie's willingness to be
the mother of 7 for a few days.
It is actually Susan and Richard Seel's cabin,
but in our house it is referred to as The Wrights Cabin.
The kids had heard about the cabin for a long time and
were thrilled that they were going to be able to
experience it for themselves.

One of the things Logan was looking forward to was the tire swing.
It's not just for the kids - Julie rode the tire swing too.

Kaitlyn loved the hammock too.

They spent most of their time playing on the water.
Canoeing, catching tadpoles, swimming and just
enjoying the great outdoors and each other.

Thank you Julie, Susan and Richard for being so kind to
Kaitlyn and Logan and finishing off their summer with a
great experience with their friends!!!

The Skunk Train

For our second day of celebrating Grandma's birthday
we rode the Skunk Train in Fort Bragg.

Several of the employees were dressed in old-fashioned clothes.
They were very cute and seemed to love their jobs
which made the experience lots of fun.

There was one car that had no roof.
You could stand in it and enjoy the great outdoors.
It was beautiful driving thru the redwoods on such a nice day.

The "Train Singer" looked great and was lots of fun to watch and listen to.

Mendocino

To celebrate Grandma Jackie's Birthday
Mike's sister, Michele, came out from Ohio and we
took a little trip to Mendocino.
It was pretty foggy when we got to the beach,
but we still had to get out and play in the sand - especially Logan.

He got a lift from dad to get back in the car
without all the sand on his feet.

Our next stop was the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse.
It was a nice little walk to the lighthouse with
little trivia signs along the way.

Aunt Michele and Kaitlyn picking blackberries along the way.

There was a little building before the lighthouse that
had lots of shells and a sign that said "touch".
They didn't have to tell Kaitlyn and Logan twice.

Next stop...Glass Beach

We expected it to be a little better, but it was still fun.
We went during low tide and had fun looking for creatures.
Logan found some little minnows and was determined to catch one.

Sure enough just when we were getting ready to leave he caught one.
You can't really tell from this picture, but along with the little rocks was
a teeny little moving fish.

After Glass Beach we went out for dinner
and then swimming in the pool at the hotel.
We all had a great day!
