Tommy and Shelly Go To School

Logan was excited to introduce his tortoises to his class before school is out.

We couldn't find a box big enough to fit them in so we put

them in the wagon and walked them up to the school.

Too cute!

Mike and Logan taught the class a lot about tortoises and

they seemed to think they were pretty cool!

"Sleep" Over

Several months ago our Young Women started working on earning a sleepover.

The big day finally arrived and they all seemed to have a great time.

There was lots of visiting, food, some games and very

little sleep - the perfect definition of a sleepover.

A seriously competitive game of spoons was played.

It came down to Taylor and Sister Evans

(the 2 most competitive ones in the group of course).

Sister Evans was the champion.

We then decided to teach the girls how to TP.

As all good young women's leaders should do :)

We weren't at all quiet, but we had fun and even took a

group picture in front of the house.

Who does that?

Next time we'll have to teach them to be a little more sneaky.

Many of the girls made a goal to pull an all nighter.

We're all about teaching them to make and keep goals in young women's!?!

So I let them go for it - but at 5:00am I did tell them I don't care if they

stay up all night as long as I don't know they are doing it.

Some of them were successful at achieving their goal.

They are an awesome group of girls and I'm so glad we

were able to have so much fun together!!

Cub Scouts...Start Your Engines

We were all excited to work on Logan's final Pinewood Derby car of his Cub Scout career. Logan knew what he wanted his car to look alike right away. Once again Logan relied on grandpa's skills and power tools to do the body work.

Dad and Logan worked hard on the paint job.

The finished product

The big night finally arrived. There was a lot of excitement and some nervous tension in the room.

Believe it or not...

LOGAN WON!!!

He was so excited!

So glad that Logan once again had a great pit crew to help him.

Logan brought all of the cars he has made and raced them down the track. He went from the turtle race his first year (the race to determine the slowest car) to 2nd place the next year and finished up his Pinewood Derby career with a 1st place victory.

Oklahoma Dinner

Our young women and young men have an annual "Oklahoma Dinner" activity. The kids spend the month before the activity working on Personal Progress/Duty to God achievements to earn points and then use those points to bid on each others dinners. This year the gals made the dinners and the guys made the desserts. Kaitlyn and I had a great time coming up with ideas for her dinner and putting it all together.

Her menu was fried chicken (a new family favorite) fruit kabobs, salad and grandma's favorite slushy punch. All packed up and ready to go.

Let the bidding begin...

Anthony bought Kaitlyn's dinner and kept her cracking up throughout dinner.

Helping Hands

We were once again able to participate in

Mormon Helping Hands day this year.

We went to a local park and painted one of the bathrooms.

Yes, I said we painted a bathroom in a park -

one of those places you want to hold your breath

and run in and out of as fast as possible.

We were actually inside painting away for a

couple of hours.

I was very impressed with how willing Kaitlyn and Logan

were to help and we all felt good about working in the

community - but we still hope next year there are no

bathrooms involved :)
