Girls Camp

Getting ready to go to our 4th year of Girls Camp.

Kaitlyn with Lauren and Madisen.

I couldn't believe it rained the entire drive up to camp.
I kept hoping it would stop before the girls arrived at camp, but no such luck.
The girls handled it so well - they just put on their rain gear and went about
camp like it was no big deal.

Kaitlyn and Kara.

Kaitlyn had a perfectly good poncho so I'm not sure why she decided to wear a garbage bag around camp, but she was grateful for the cute hat grandma knit for her to keep her stylish and warm during camp.

Madisen, Paige and Taylor's group.
They did a great job being YCL's for some 2nd year girls.
(YCL = Youth Camp Leader)

Since Kaitlyn was a 4th year this year it was her big hike.
They were gone from camp 3 days and 2 nights.
They told the girls they were leaving on their hike rain or shine
and they weren't kidding.
It rained all night the first night and they headed out in the rain on the second day of camp.

Her hiking group.
They were all very nervous, but didn't complain and just did it.

I was lucky to work in crafts again this year.
We made dream catchers, bookmarks, friendship bracelets
and lots of other cute things.

Lauren was a first year this year.
So glad I got to be up at camp and watch her having a great time at camp.

They made it!
Kaitlyn's group back from their hike.

They survived even with the rain and Kaitlyn loved the hike -
even more than being back at camp.
I'm so glad she did it,
but I really missed having her back at camp with me.
I'll do a separate post with the pictures she took during her hike.

Paula, Juan and Celia -
enjoying Celia's first year at camp together.

Cute YCL's leading the singing.

Always have to do a goofy shot too.

With the rain and the lice - seriously lice - it was a hard year at camp.
But the girls handled so well!!!
I think it was great that they were able to realize what strong young women they are and that they are more than capable of doing hard things!
What a great life lesson to learn during their week at camp.
